As stated in our mission, The Mayflower School aims to develop well-rounded, supportive individuals with a strong sense of community and a thirst for knowledge. We achieve this through an education of academic excellence, bilingualism (Spanish-English), international mindset, and Catholic inspiration, which promotes the full development and well-being of each student, preparing them to be agents of change and to tackle the challenges of a globalized society.
We define academic excellence as the full development of each student's talents, capabilities, values, and skills. Therefore we encourage and promote excellence across various fields of knowledge, forming individuals who can appropriately use their knowledge, talents, and technological resources for the benefit of others.
We strive to cultivate autonomous students with reflective, critical, and creative thinking, committed to building a better society. We foster a passion for research, motivation for knowledge, perseverance, and the pursuit of truth in our students, emphasizing the development of new learning and the “learning to learn” concept.
We consider bilingualism an essential tool that helps students navigate a globalized society more effectively. Through the second language, we also aim to promote knowledge and tolerance towards other cultures, fostering an international mindset.
Academic Curriculum
Our TMS curriculum includes the content from the National Curriculum of the Ministry of Education of Chile, which is implemented through the methodological framework established by the International Baccalaureate® in its three programs:
- Primary Years Programme (PYP)
- Middle Years Programme (MYP)
- Diploma Programme (DP)
International Baccalaureate®
The International Baccalaureate® (IB) is a non-profit foundation driven by its mission to provide an education that creates a better world. It offers a robust continuum of student-centered learning programs that span from ages 3 to 19, shaping students with a lifelong learning attitude and equipping them to progress and make a difference.
The IB aims to develop young people who are compassionate, informed, and eager to learn, capable of contributing to a better and more peaceful world through mutual understanding and intercultural respect.
These programs encourage students worldwide to adopt a lifelong learning attitude, to be compassionate, and to recognize that others, despite their differences, can also be right.
