Sports and Physical Education

Our school promotes maximizing sports practice, not only to develop healthy and joyful children and young people but also as a means to foster the values that support our Philosophy and achieve the Spirit of TMS, uniting all members of the community.
We have a team of qualified and experienced teachers who teach, coach and lead sports teams and co-curricular activities.

Physical Education Classes

Physical Education is a subject in the curriculum from Playgroup to 4th Year of Secondary with 2 pedagogical hours per week. It takes place during the students' school day, at times appropriate to the level and specific characteristics of the subject. The curricular contents are organized in a curriculum framework, in accordance with the Ministry of Education's programs, with an emphasis on motor development for each age group, physical fitness related to health and quality of life, and motor expression. The fundamental pillars of the subject are: Active Life and Health - Motor Learning - Safety, Fair Play, and Leadership.

Sports Classes

Sports classes are part of the curriculum for our students from 1st Grade to 1st Year of Secondary, with 2 pedagogical hours per week. The content is based on the technical and tactical fundamentals of various sports, distributed according to the students' stage of development. For students in 1st to 8th Grade, we implement a sports rotation system, with each semester covering different sports such as athletics, volleyball, football, basketball, field hockey, and multi-sport. For students in 7th and 8th Grade, the system changes to include three different sports each year. From 1st Year of Secondary, the classes focus on enhancing the work of the school's sports teams.

Sports Teams

The sports teams have the mission of representing the institution at both national and international school levels. Students who are part of these teams require rigorous training, dedication, support, special considerations, discipline, and sufficient strength to balance their academic obligations with the demands of their training and practice.
Competitive sports aim to enhance the talents of those with special physical abilities or those who wish to develop their skills to the fullest, creating a healthy competitive spirit that positions The Mayflower School among the top schools in terms of athletic excellence. Healthy competition stimulates a range of attitudes that we view as educational values.
Considering sports as an effective means for personal development, we offer the following sports:

  • Girls: Athletics, volleyball, football, and field hockey
  • Boys: Athletics, football, volleyball, and basketball

The teams are organized by sport and category from 5th Grade to 4th Year of Secondary. They have one or two training sessions per week at times suitable for after the academic day and follow an annual participation program.

Sports Academies

We encourage participation in sports academies according to the stage of development of the students. It is important to note that these activities complement and expand the school's sports offerings.
This year, 16 sports academies are available for students from Kindergarten to 4th Year of Secondary.
